Demystifying the OUAC Application: Everything You Need to Know

Perhaps you’re considering expanding your horizons and seeking out a top-notch education in an overseas location. One of the prominent choices that stand out is Canada. Renowned for its high-quality education, multicultural environment, and welcoming nature, Canada emerges as a top contender in the global education arena. The Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) plays a pivotal role in facilitating applications to undergraduate programs in Ontario’s 21 universities, making the process streamlined and efficient. From the diversity of OUAC Canada programs to the comprehensive OUAC application system, this blog aims to explain all you need to know to embark on your academic journey.

Understanding 101 and 105 applicants: The key differences

OUAC categorizes university applicants into two primary groups based on their academic backgrounds and circumstances. These two groups are known as 101 applicants and 105 applicants.

  • A 101 applicant is someone who is applying to university directly from an Ontario high school.
  • A 105 applicant is a student who attended high school outside of Ontario, including internationally, a student who has been out of school for more than seven consecutive months, or a mature student who has previously attended a post-secondary institution.

The differentiating factor between 101 and 105 applicants lies in the process of issuing academic information and distributing marks to universities.

For 101 applicants, their full-time day school or OVS (Ontario Virtual School) provides all the necessary information to create their OUAC account and send marks directly to OUAC during one of their four collection periods.

However, if you are a 105 applicant, irrespective of whether you are taking courses with OVS, you will have to send all documents directly to your universities, as OUAC is not responsible for this task. If needed, the guidance team at OVS is ready to assist in sending your report cards and transcripts where they need to go upon request.

At USCA Academy, we are happy to guide all our students—both 101 and 105 applicants—through their OUAC application process.
