OUAC: If you want to take admission to Ontario’s universities, you’ve to fill out the application form through OUAC (Ontario Universities Application Centre). Usually, students can apply to Ontario universities in October and November.
However, if you want to strengthen your OUAC application, along with your academic record, we believe that personal achievement and extracurricular involvement are extremely crucial. So, you can also submit additional extracurricular information in your application form.
The details will be submitted by filling out the Applicant Background Summary form. The ABS application form is optional, but if you want to strengthen your OUAC application, it is recommended to fill out the form.
How to Submit ABS (Applicant Background Summary) Form
To submit the filled ABS form, here is what you have to follow:
- Visit the official portal of OUAC. Go to the “My Application.” If you are a first-time visitor, first create the account by logging in. After the account is set up, log in to your account and click on “My Application.”
- There is a section of “Strengthen Your Application.” Now, click on “Complete Your Applicant Background Summary Form.”
- Follow the given instructions to fill out the application form and submit it.
In your application, you can also add about your:
- Work experience
- Extracurricular activities in which you take part
- Add about your volunteering
- Extra reading and enhanced hobbies
- Think about your statement. Make sure you have documents to support every word that you will write in the application form.
These key things help strengthen your application and improve the chances of admission to the OUAC.
Explanatory Circumstances or Special Cases
In some cases, present circumstances harm the academic standing and weaken your OUAC application. In that case, submit an additional personal statement. After that, however, it is on you whether you want to disclose your details that support the application:
- Go to the official website and application portal. Then, click on “My Application.”
- Now, click on “Strengthen Your Application.”
- Click on “Complete the Extenuating Circumstances Form or Special Case”
- Now follow all the steps and submit the form. Do ensure to complete the form. Also, submit the application form before the deadline.
Key Note: – ABS form has a different review process. Do not provide information in the ABS form about the extenuating circumstance. The strengthen your application form will be submitted separately.
Submit Other Required Documents
Once you submit the extenuating circumstances form along with your academic application form, you need to track whether you are an excellent fit for the OUAC application. However, there are different forms of requirements for a different types of programs.
If you want to strengthen your application further, fill in additional requirements such as test scores, English language, an interview, personal essay, portfolio, maths and science contest, and online assessments. However, if you are a student of Ontario high school, then you are exempted from sending grades. Ontario school will submit by themselves for you.
However, if you don’t belong to Ontario’s high score, you need to submit other essential documents mentioned on the website to supply your application form.
Submit Application Before Deadline: OUAC
It is recommended to submit a personal statement declaration along with the ABS form and special case circumstances before the deadline or two weeks before applying your application. Late submission is not acceptable, or you cannot submit the ABS form to support your application form.
Once you submit the OUAC application form, OUAC will send further information to you via email. You will know what you need to do next in an email. The process may include reviewing the application and submitting other necessary documents.
OUAC Review Applications
The majority of universities will review the applications and then decide about the admissions. As soon as universities receive grades updates from high schools, universities will review all the applications. Then, they check if anything more is required to submit your application.
However, the grades submitted by the schools may change year after year. So, students applying for the OUAC will be evaluated based on their qualifications.
However, students who didn’t receive an admission offer before May don’t be obsessed. You can wait for longer to be considered. This can happen for highly competitive study programs for admissions. After that, admissions decisions are either in the form of yes or no.

If your application is strong and meets the requirements, definitely you’re likely to get admission. The OUAC will release an official application on the official website. You have to check your account and emails. Stay updated and strengthen your applications to get admission to OUAC. However, before proceeding with application strengthening, ensure you have all the relevant documents that support your ABS form. Also, try to apply on time.
